In 2018, realizing a loud outcry by new mothers for safe and hygienic maternal pads in Tanzania, we launched and registered to start business in the country. The registration was shortly followed by the manufacture of the Lili maternity pads and Lili lady sanitary pads in the same year. At the end of the year 2019, the world was faced by such turmoil and shock due to the outbreak of Corona Virus that resulted in many countries going into lock downs.
Witnessing such a big insufficiency in the supply of facemasks, and the big risk at which third world countries were put, Drafco GROUP Limited felt obligated to join the world in the fight against the spread of the deadly virus. The board of the company’s directors sat and decided to make emergency response by buying a facemask producing machine, which at the time the company had no other choice of transporting the machine and raw materials from Turkey except by Air.
The transportation was unbelievably expensive but the company’s heart to support was bigger than the cost itself. As the times could dictate, it was impossible to find technocrats to assemble the machine in Tanzania but determined to protect the lives of the millions of Tanzanians, the company made another expensive decision of hiring engineers from abroad to assemble and run the machine.
After nearly 3 months of setback and limited resources, finally the company managed to manufacture and provide high quality protective facemasks to Tanzanians and nearby countries at very affordable prices. We are so proud of our achievement because we did not only succeed to make the protective gears available but we also helped in stabilizing the yet inflated protective gears prices.
